why is the map zoomed out so far?

Every time you launch the app, or any time you return from your list of bookmarks back to the app, it zooms itself back out to about 500 miles across -- even if you zoomed in before. You have to zoom in EVERY time to get a usable view.

I posted this on the developers suggestion forum, and the developer immediately told me that I was incorrect, and that the map doesnt zoom out on its own. Ok, I guess Im just hallucinating then...
